Why I Will Be Driving to All My Christmas Functions This Year

Why I Will Be Driving to All My Christmas Functions This Year

almost 2 years ago by Ben Giltrap

My first Christmas function is coming up next week, signalling the beginning of what we all know as the silly season. Even those of us on the skinny end of popularity will still be invited to a handful Christmas-type events, and it can be difficult to keep on track and stay healthy. But instead of politely declining, it’s important to acknowledge the host’s effort in putting on these parties and how thoughtful it was that they’ve invited you.

But as the time to see each other before Christmas is running out, we find parties and functions, catch ups and drinks seemingly all piled on top of each other on the remaining late-in-the-weeknights of the year. Multiple functions in a single evening is going to happen this December, I guarantee it. So how do you keep yourself in shape, while being social and making an appearance?

Why not drive?

It’s pretty straight forward really. The obvious point is you are only limited to 1 or 2 drinks. But there are additional benefits. You can navigate relatively stress free between events, even keeping some healthy snacks in the glove box so you can skip deep fried or sauce-laden canapés while remaining nourished. You will also be well-placed for a change of outfit to match your next events’ dress code.

By planning it in advance, you can also help out a mate by offering them a ride home. And you can get evening rate parking deals in all the major CBD’s for under $10. If for whatever reason you do overindulge, at least you know your car is safe.

Plus the casual finger key-ring spin is a pretty easy way to signal that while it was great to catch up, but you really must be going.

Do you have any tips for surviving the festive season? We’d love to hear from you! Get in touch by dropping us a line or give me a call on 03 9963 4804.

All the best this Silly Season, and keep safe.
